Who is Sriram Krishnan?
Krishnan's firm a16z has invested in Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk’s buyout of Twitter. Reportedly, Krishnan was also among the few who were holding the fort in Twitter’s San Francisco headquarters, while Musk flew to New York on October 30. The investor on October 31 also said on Twitter that he was helping out Musk “temporarily”.
Early life and education
Krishnan was born in Chennai to a middle class family. He completed his graduation in software engineering from SRM Engineering College, Anna University in 2005.
He is married to Aarthi Ramamurthy, whom Krishnan met during college in 2013. According to the New York Times, the couple had met virtually earlier in a Yahoo! chat room setup for a coding project. They eloped in 2010, and moved from Seattle to Palo Alto in 2011.
Krishnan and Ramamurthy have a daughter together, and the couple live in San Francisco.
Career
Krishnan started to work for Microsoft in 2007, where he was a program manager for Visual Studio. During his tenure at Facebook (now Meta), Krishnan built the Facebook Audience Network. At Snap, Snapchat's parent company, he built the company’s ad tech platform.
Krishnan left Snap in 2017 and joined Twitter as senior director of product. AtTwitter, the investor drove Twitter annual user growth over 20 per cent growth. He left Twitter in 2019.
Krishnan and his wife, Ramamurthy, who call themselves 'software fanboys', host the podcast, "The Good Time Show" together. The veteran technology executives have hosted conversations with some notable names, which include Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Naomi Osaka, Virgil Abloh, AR Rahman and Andrew Yang.
