The New Delhi Assembly constituency in NCT of Delhi is currently held by Arvind Kejriwal of the AAP. In the 2020 Assembly election held in Delhi Arvind Kejriwal defeated his nearest rival Sunil Yadav of the BJP by 21697 votes, polling 61.1 of the votes cast in the constituency.
In the 2020 Delhi Assembly election, New Delhi saw a voter turnout of 52.15 per cent — that is, 76530 of the 146750 registered voters here exercised their right to franchise. Arvind Kejriwal received 46758 votes, compared with 25061 votes polled by Sunil Yadav. On the third position was Romesh Sabharwal of the Congress, who secured only 3220 votes to have a vote share of just 4.21 per cent.
In the previous Delhi Assembly election, held in 2015, Arvind Kejriwal of the AAP had won the New Delhi seat by defeating Nupur Sharma of the BJP by 31583 votes.
