The Shalimar Bagh Assembly constituency in NCT of Delhi is currently held by Bandana Kumari of the AAP. In the 2020 Assembly election held in Delhi Bandana Kumari defeated his nearest rival Rekha Gupta of the BJP by 3440 votes, polling 49.41 of the votes cast in the constituency.
In the 2020 Delhi Assembly election, Shalimar Bagh saw a voter turnout of 61.62 per cent — that is, 116803 of the 189554 registered voters here exercised their right to franchise. Bandana Kumari received 57707 votes, compared with 54267 votes polled by Rekha Gupta. On the third position was J S Nayol of the Congress, who secured only 2491 votes to have a vote share of just 2.13 per cent.
In the previous Delhi Assembly election, held in 2015, Bandana Kumari of the AAP had won the Shalimar Bagh seat by defeating Rekha Gupta of the BJP by 10978 votes.
