Babul Supriyo is the Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises in the Narendra Modi government since 2016. Earlier, he was a Minister of State for Urban Development and Ministry of Housing and poverty alleviation from 2014-2016. Supriyo, a singer in Bollywood, was elected as a Member of Parliament from Asansol constituency in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket.
