Chris Woakes is an English cricketer who plays for Warwickshire and England. He is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm fast-medium pace bowler. He topped Warwickshire's 2008 county bowling averages, and was selected for the England Lions squad as well as the preliminary 2009 ICC World Twenty20 championship. He made his Test debut against Australia in the fifth Ashes Test in 2013.

He made his IPL debut in 2017, playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders. He made his first Test century against India (137 not out) at the 2nd Test at Lord's in August 2018.
Woakes amde his T20I debut for England against Australia in January 2011. But until recently, he wasn't able to find a regular place in the side. Woakes made his ODI debut against Australia in Sydney in 2011. Exactly a week later, on January 30, he registered his career-best figures of 6/45 against Australia in Brisbane. 
Woakes made his Test debut in 2013 at The Oval against the visiting Australians in The Ashes series. Woakes got a surprise call-up for England's T20 side to play the 2014 World T20 as a replacement for Ben Stokes.
Since his return to the national side, Woakes has been impressive. He was even recalled to the Test side for the home series against India. In the ODIs that followed, Woakes picked up 14 wickets in the seven-match series. 
Woakes had a decent 2015 World Cup where England was eliminated in the group stage and it followed in the Ashes series that followed. Woakes has been in and out of the England team across formats. The all-rounder picked 11 wickets in the Test at Lord's against Pakistan, and following it up right through the fascinating series with tremendous consistency.
Woakes had a good IPL 2017 playing for Kolkata Knight Riders. Woakes has been impressive at home but has not been able to gain the confidence in away matches.
