Jaydev Unadkat is an Indian cricketer left-arm medium fast bowler. He plays domestic cricket for Saurashtra and is known to move the ball both ways off the seam. He first shot into the limelight for spearheading the Indian U19 team’s bowling attack at the 2010 World Cup.
ODI career
Unadkat made his One Day International (ODI) debut against Zimbabwe at Harare Sports Club on July 24, 2013. He played his last ODI match against Windies at Kochi’s Nehru Stadium on November 21, 2013. In the seven matches he played, he took 8 wickets at an average of 26.12 and an economy rate of 4.02, with the best bowling figures of 4 for 41.
IPL career
Jaydev Unadkat made his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut against King XI Punjab (KXIP) at Eden Gardens on April 4, 2010, while playing for Kolkata Knight Riders. In the IPL 2013 player auction Royal Challengers Bangalore bought him for Rs $525,000. He took 13 wickets at an average of 28.46 in that IPL season. On 10 May 2013, he achieved the best career bowling figures of 5 for 25 in four overs in IPL while playing against Delhi Daredevils. In the IPL 2014 player auction, Delhi Daredevils bagged him for Rs 2.80 crore. In the IPL 2016 players auction, KKR picked him for Rs 1.6 crore while he played the next season for Rising Pune Supergiant. In the IPL 2018 player auction, when Rajasthan Royals bagged him for a whopping Rs 11.5 crore, he became the most expensive Indian player that season. Overall, he has taken 77 wickets in 73 matches with the best bowling figures of 5 for 25, and two five-wicket hauls.
T20I career
He made his T20 International debut against Zimbabwe at Harare Sports Club on June 18, 2016. In the 10 T20I matches he has played, he has taken 14 wickets at an average of 21.5 and an economy rate of 8.68. He played his last T20 match against Bangladesh at R Premadasa Stadium on March 18, 2018.
Test career
Unadkat started his Test career against South Africa at SuperSport Park on December 16, 2010. The start for him was rather poor as AB de Villiers and Kallis smashed him all over the park, and that as good as ended his Test career. He has not been picked up in the national Test team ever since.
