Mallikarjun Kharge is a Congress politician and Lok Sabha MP from Gulbarga, Karnataka.
A nine term MLA in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly (from 1972 to 2009), Kharge became a Lok Sabha MP for the first time in 2009. He served as Minister of Labour and Employment and Minister of Railways in the Manmohan Singh government.
He started his career as a student leader before joining the Congress party in 1969.
After being re-elected from Gulbarga (Reserved) constituency in 2014, he was made the leader of the Congress legislature party in the Lok Sabha.
