Mujeeb Ur Rahman is an Afghan right-arm off-spin bowler. He was the first among men born in the 21st century to play international cricket. He made his List-A debut for Speen Ghar Region in the 2017 Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional One Day Tournament on 10 August 2017. He made his Twenty20 debut for Boost Defenders in the 2017 Shpageeza Cricket League on 11 September 2017. In November 2017, he was signed by Comilla Victorians for the 2017-18 Bangladesh Premier League season.
Mujeeb made his One Day International (ODI) debut against Ireland at Sharjah cricket Association Stadium on December 5, 2017. On his debut, he took 4 wickets conceding only 24 runs in his quota of 10 overs and helped his team win by 138 runs. He was awarded the man of the match for his performance.
In the IPL 2018 player auction, Kings XI Punjab bought Mujeeb for Rs 4 crore. On 8 April 2018, at the age of 17 years and 11 days, he became the youngest cricketer to play in the Indian Premier League. In 16 IPL matches played so far, he has taken 17 wickets an average of 28.23 and economy rate of 7.95.
Mujeeb made his T20 International debut against Zimbabwe at Sharjah Cricket Association Stadium on February 5, 2018. He has taken 11 wickets in T20 Internationals and he has conceded runs at the rate of 5.34 an over.
In May 2018, he was named in Afghanistan's squad for their inaugural Test match to be played against India. He made his Test debut on 14 June 2018 and became the sixth player, and first for Afghanistan, to make his first-class debut in a Test match. He also became the first player born in the 21st century to play Test cricket. In the only test that he has played so far, he has one wicket to his credit.
