Solar RE Power, a subsidiary of SAEL Industries, on Tuesday said it has commissioned a 50 MW solar power plant in Beed district of Maharashtra. The plant is expected to generate over 100 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of clean electricity annually, and is aligned with the government's vision for a sustainable energy future, SAEL Industries said. "The 50 MW (AC)...ground-mounted solar project features TOPCon bifacial modules, designed for high energy yield and performance reliability," the clean energy solutions provider said. The project is backed by a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL), offering long-term revenue and tariff stability in accordance with industry best practices, it said. Juniper Green Energy on Wednesday announced the commissioning of the 59 MWp solar component of its 75 MW hybrid power project in Wardha, Maharashtra. The plant, commissioned on June 6, 2025, was completed 17 months ahead of schedule, a company statement said. The Juniper Green Power Five Project has a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) capacity of 75 MW, comprising a contracted 75 MW of solar and an additional 26.4 MW of installed wind capacity, according to the statement. The PPA was signed on November 18, 2024, with Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL), and the Scheduled Commercial Operation Date (SCOD) is set for November 17, 2026, it added. The commissioning of this solar component marks a step towards the full operationalisation of the hybrid project. State-owned non-banking finance firm REC Ltd will increase its exposure to renewable energy projects by about Rs 2.5 lakh crore in next six years to aid India's target of having 500 GW of non-fossil fuel energy by 2030. REC currently has an exposure of about Rs 53,000 crore in renewable energy projects with a total loan book of Rs 5.67 lakh crore as on March 31, 2025. The company has planned to achieve a loan book of Rs 10 lakh crore including Rs 3 lakh crore exposure in renewable energy project by 2030. Renewable energy is a key area where the company will focus in the coming six years in view of nation's ambitious target of having 500 GW renewable energy by 2030. State-owned CIL on Monday said it has signed an MoU with UPRVUNL to set up a 500 MW solar power project in Uttar Pradesh. The development is a part of initiatives of Coal India Ltd in the green energy space and to meet the growing energy demand of Uttar Pradesh. "Coal India Ltd (CIL) and UP Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd (UPRVUNL) have executed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on May 5, 2025 at Lucknow with an intent of setting of 500 MW Solar Power project in Uttar Pradesh," CIL said in a filing to BSE. Vikram Solar on Wednesday said it has secured a 150 MW solar module supply order from Maharashtra State Power Generation Co Ltd. The leading solar PV module manufacturer in a statement said it has bagged an order for a major renewable power project of 150 MW from Maharashtra State Power Generation Co Ltd (MAHAGENCO), a government of Maharashtra undertaking. The company will provide 150 MW of advanced N-Type Modules. The modules will be supplied in the districts of Jalgaon and Solapur in the state of Maharashtra to MAHAGENCO under Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana (MSKVY) project 2.0. Solar solutions provider Jupiter International Ltd on Monday said it has secured an investment of Rs 500 crore from ValueQuest SCALE Fund and its affiliates to accelerate solar manufacturing expansion. The company operates at a 1 GW facility in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, and plans to increase the total capacity to 5.6 GW solar cells and 2.4 GW solar modules, the company said in a statement. The present funding round of Rs 500 crore and internal accruals is proposed to support the company's ongoing capex programme, it said. India became the world's third-largest producer of electricity from wind and solar energy in 2024, overtaking Germany, to according to a new report published on Tuesday. The sixth edition of global energy think tank Ember's Global Electricity Review said wind and solar together generated 15 per cent of global electricity last year. India's share stood at 10 per cent. The report said low-carbon sources, including renewables and nuclear power, together provided 40.9 per cent of the world's electricity in 2024. This is the first time the 40 per cent mark has been crossed since the 1940s. In India, clean sources accounted for 22 per cent of the electricity generation. Hydropower contributed the most at 8 per cent, while wind and solar together accounted for 10 per cent. Globally, renewables led the growth in clean electricity, adding a record 858 terawatt hours (TWh) in 2024 -- 49 per cent more than the previous record in 2022. Delhi Assembly is targeting to set up 500 kVA capacity solar panels in 100 days to save a monthly electricity bill of Rs 15 lakh, Speaker Vijender Gupta said on Thursday. Addressing a press conference a day after the conclusion of the budget session, Gupta said that the Assembly will promote solar energy to send a message to the people to adopt it and ensure zero bills against electricity consumption. He said the Assembly has also targeted to go paperless before the monsoon session under the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) project. The Reliance Group company has already appointed Ivan Saha as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Renewable Manufacturing, and Mushtaque Hussain as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Battery Manufacturing, they said.
