Time line: Cyrus Pallonji Mistry's association with the Tatas

Forty-eight-year-old Cyrus Mistry, son of construction magnate Pallonji Mistry, was not able to complete his five-year term as Chairman of the Tata Group. His father, incidentally, is the largest individual shareholder of Tata Sons, the holding company of the various enterprised constituting the group.

Here is a quick time line of the man's association with the group -- and his removal from its helm.

September 24, 1990-October 26, 2009: Serves as a Director of Tata Elxsi Ltd; was a Director of Tata Power Co. Ltd until September 18, 2006.

September 1, 2006: Joins board of Tata Sons, a year after his father retired from it

December 28, 2012: Becomes sixth chairman of Tata group, and the only one apart from Nowroji Saklatwala, not carrying the Tata surname.

October 24, 2016: Steps down as Chairman of the Tata Group, after Tata Sons Board votes to remove. Ratan Tata appointed Interim Chairman
