Sonia, Manmohan meet Sri Lankan PM

Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh met visiting Sri Lankan Premier Ranil Wickremesinghe in New Delhi on Wednesday.

This was Sonia Gandhi's first public engagement since she fell ill during the party's Varanasi roadshow ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj met Wickremesinghe in New Delhi.

Wickremesinghe arrived on Tuesday on a three-day bilateral visit to India.

The Sri Lankan Prime Minister will attend the opening plenary of the India Economic Summit in Delhi on Thursday before leaving for Colombo.
