With eight of the 24 districts in Jharkhand yet to be declared the 'open-defecation free', Chief Minister Raghubar Das Wednesday directed the administration officials to meet the target by the end of September.
Das, during a video conference with deputy commissioners, said he intended to declare the state 'open-defecation free' on October 2, an official statement said here.
The chief minister also asked the officials to generate awareness on toilet use among rural people.
"Across the country, a campaign 'Cleanliness is Service' will start on September 15 and continue till October 2. During the period, people will take a pledge to keep their surroundings clean," the statement said quoting Das.
All ministers, public representatives, business organizations, and representatives of social organizations along with common people will have to dedicate one hour every day for cleaning, the CM added.
