Freight rates dip on tight cargo movements

Freight rates for nine-tonne pay load section dropped by Rs 1,000 at the local truck transport market in the national capital today following restricted cargo movements against easy availability of trucks.

Transporters said restricted cargo movements against large position of trucks mainly pulled down freight rates for some destinations.

Delhi to Hyderabad, Vijaywada and Mysore freight rates moved down by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 55,000, Rs 57,000 and Rs 68,000, respectively.

Rates to Chennai, Puducherry, Goa and Guwahati also went down by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 65,000, Rs 70,000, Rs 56,000 and Rs 58,000, respectively.

Elsewhere, rates for other centres after moving in a tight range, depicted hardly any change.
