Congress' Sanjeev Sharma Bittu was today elected as Patiala mayor with Yoginder Singh Yogi and Vinti Sanger as his deputies.
Yogi was elected as senior deputy mayor and Sanger as deputy mayor.
All of these councillors belong to Patiala Urban Assembly segment and are considered close to former union minister and Congress leader Preneet Kaur.
The decision was announced in the presence of Punjab cabinet ministers Brahma Mohindra and Sadhu Singh Dharmsot.
The ruling Congress swept the three municipal corporations of Amritsar, Jalandhar and Patiala last month. In Patiala, the Congress won 58 wards while the opposition failed to open account.
