Windies cricket team beat India cricket team by eight wickets in the second T20 International to level the three-match series 1-1 at Greenfield Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday. Batting first, India scored 170 for 7 with Shivam Dube hitting 54 off 30 balls and Rishabh Pant contributing an unbeaten 33 off 22 as West Indies seamer Kesrick Williams and leg-spinner Hayden Walsh got two wickets apiece. In reply, Lendl Simmons scored an unbeaten 67 off 45 balls and Nicholas Pooran scored 38 off 18 balls to finish the chase in 18.3 overs.
Despite Dube's 54 off 30 balls, which had four huge sixes apart from three fours, India didn't get the required momentum during the death overs on a track where Caribbean seamers used a lot of back of length slower deliveries along with well disguised short balls.
The last five overs in the Indian innings produced only 38 runs and West Indies were able to compensate for the 13 wides and two no-balls that they bowled during the evening. Kesrick Williams after being subjected to humiliation from Virat Kohli, came back well with figures of 2 for 30 in four overs including the prized scalp of the Indian captain (19 of 17 balls). There was no 'Notebook Celebrations' but just a quiet 'finger on lips' this time around.
The other bowler, who impressed was leg-spinner Hayden Walsh (2/28 in 4 overs), who pitched the ball good areas and was also able to get some sharp turn on his leg breaks.
Left-arm spinner Khary Pierry who gave away only 11 runs from his 2 overs in the Powerplay, was surprisingly not called on to bowl again.
The highlight of the Indian innings was giant Mumbai all-rounder Dube's big-hitting prowess which he finally displayed at the international level.
The southpaw took a liking to the bowling of West Indies captain Kieron Pollard, smashing three huge sixes in the ninth over. He reached his maiden international fifty in 27 balls (4 sixes, two fours).
Skipper Kohli, who decimated the Windies attack in the game on Friday, saw Dube go big, but couldn't get going, falling to Williams as he mistimed a cut.
KL Rahul who hit a classy half-century in the first match in Hyderabad, cracked a superb boundary, before he skied one from Pierre to Shimron Hetmyer to be dismissed for 11.
Rohit Sharma (15) who did not have a great outing in the series opener fell going for a lap shot off Jason Holder's bowling and had his leg stump pegged back.
West Indies' ploy of bowling back of the length did work as the deliveries were not easily coming onto the bat making it difficult for hitting through the line. Only briefly, it was Dube, who got a hang of Pollard's slower ones and picked them up over deep mid-wicket region.
Here are the playing 11 of both the teams:

Pollard 10 runs away from batting milestone in T20 Internationals
As India and West Indies gear up to take on each other in the second T20I on Sunday, West Indies skipper Kieron Pollard will look to achieve a batting milestone in the shortest format of the game. Pollard is just 10 runs away from smashing 1,000 runs in T20 internationals and if the batsman manages to do so, he will become the fourth Windies batsmen to achieve the feat.
Pollard in the first T20I against India, played a gutsy knock. His late onslaught enabled West Indies to score 207 runs in 20 overs. The Men in Blue defeated West Indies by six wickets in the first T20I on Friday. Indian skipper Virat Kohli scored 94 runs while KL Rahul amassed 62 runs. India leads the three-match series by 1-0.
West Indies's dismal performance in first T20 International
West Indian cricket team will be desperate to bounce back and keep the series alive but for that they will have to find a way to stop the Indian batsmen, led by Kohli. The visiting team's bowlers appeared clueless as Kohli went on the overdrive on Friday. Pacer Kesrick Williams conceded 60 runs from 3.4 overs and would be lucky to keep a place in the playing XI on Sunday.
Skipper Kieron Pollard would want the experienced Jason Holder (46/0) and Sheldon Cottrell (1/24) to provide wickets in the initial overs to stymie a formidable Indian batting unit. The visitors also gave away 23 runs in extras, an area which needs immediate attention if they have to put India under pressure.
The Windies captain admitted that his side failed to execute its plans properly and would hope for an improved performance if they have to take the series to the decider and avenge their 0-3 loss to the same opponent in their own backyard in August.
India bowling performance in 1st T20 International
Deepak Chahar, who was impressive in the preceding series against South Africa and Bangladesh, found the going tough as the West Indian batsman went after him. He took one wicket but gave away 54 runs and he will look to execute things better on Sunday.
Returning to the side's T20 setup, Bhuvneshwar Kumar went wicketless, bleeding 36 runs in his four overs but the weakest link in India's bowling seems to be Washington Sundar, who has failed to provide the breakthroughs, claiming just two wickets in his last six T20Is.
K L Rahul become 3rd fastest batsman to score 1,000 T20 International runs
K L Rahul became the third fastest batsman to complete 1,000 runs in T20 internationals in 29 innings on way to his half-century during first T20 and he will look to continue his good run in the second T20 also.
Here's how India chased their highest total in T20 Internationals
India pulled off their highest successful run chase in a T20 International on Friday night as they chased down a challenging 207 for 5, posted by the Windies, in 18.4 overs.
If K L Rahul set the platform with a 40-ball 62, skipper Virat Kohli finished the job with a career-best 94 not out.
Rahul looked in sublime touch as he made a case for himself with his well-compiled half-century after being promoted to open in the absence of the injured Shikhar Dhawan. Check Ind vs WI 1st T20 Highlights here
India vs West Indies 2nd T20 preview
India cricket team will look for an improved show in the bowling and fielding departments to match their stupendous batting performance when they face the Windies cricket team in the second game, eyeing to wrap up yet another T20 series on Sunday. In the last 13 months, India have played the West Indies in six T20 Internationals with the hosts coming up trumps every single time.
On Friday, India claimed their seventh straight T20I win over the visitors, beating them comfortably by six wickets in the first game to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. The hosts had claimed the season's first T20 series win at home last month, beating Bangladesh 2-1.
A win on Sunday will not only help India seal their second series in the shortest format but also give them a chance to tests the fringe players as they continue their preparation for the T20 World Cup. READ FULL ARTICLE HERE
