PKL 2018, Day 44, Match 1: Haryana Steelers vs Puneri Paltan

In first match on Day 44, Puneri Paltan produced a superb comeback to beat Haryana Steelers 35-33 in a thrilling Pro Kabaddi 2018 match. It was a solid all-round effort by Puneri Paltan as they picked up their game in the second half. Haryana Steelers were left ruing a disappointing second half performance. Sandeep Narwal scored seven points for Pune while G B More chipped in with six points. Monu Goyat got 11 points for Haryana but their second half performance let them down.

Monu opened Puneri Paltan's account with a two-point raid in the first minute. Haryana Steelers leveled the match at 4-4 with a couple of raid points. Haryana Steelers tightened their grip on the match in the next few minutes as Vikas Kandola's brilliant raid in the ninth minute inflicted an all out on Pune. Puneri Paltan could not recover from that all out in the first half as they struggled to put points on board. Harayan Steelers asserted further domination with another all out in the 17th minute to lead 20-7. Monu Goyat and Vikas Kandola got points at regular intervals as Haryana enjoyed a healthy 15-point lead at the end of the first half.

There was a sense of complacency in Haryana's performance in the second half as in 10 minutes they could score just three points. Puneri Paltan's hopes of a comeback were ignited as they inflicted an all out in the 29th minute to trail 21-26. Pune's defence had a first half to forget as they could muster just two tackle points. At the start of the second half, they picked the third tackle point to trail 10-24 after 24 minutes. A super tackle was forced by PuneriPaltan in the 25th minute as they attempted to reduce the point gap. Puneri Paltan were in scintillating form in the second half as they inflicted an all out in the 36th minute to complete a sensational comeback. In the last five minutes, Haryana Steelers could not come to terms with Puneri Paltan's intensity.

DO OR DIE BATTLE

Bengaluru Bulls raiding unit have been exception in DoD raids so far this season.
Pawan Sehrawat, in particular, has an unbelievable raid SR of 94 in these situations which is joint highest (tied with Siddharth Desai) in the league.
As a team, they have 41 raid points at a raid SR of 69 in DoD situations which is joint most in the league along with Patna Pirates.
All their 3 main raiders, Pawan, Kashi and Rohit have a raid SR greater than 65 in DoD raids which is an amazing feat.

PKL 2018, Day 44, Match 2: Bengaluru Bulls vs Telugu Titans

ONE OF THE BEST RAIDING UNITS v BEST DEFENSE IN THE LEAGUE

Bengaluru have already failed win the game while facing the other two teams in top 3 defence this season (Lost to U Mumba and tied to Gujarat).
Most Tackle Pts./Game - PKL 2018
Team Name Avg. Raid Pts. Raid SR
U Mumba 12.6 51
Telugu Titans 11.7 56
Gujarat Fortunegiants 11.4 49

Though U Mumba average more tackle points per game, the Telugu Titans defense has been more miserly. They allow just 15.9 raid points per game and commit only 10.7 failed tackles per game, both of which are much lesser than U Mumba.
They have also received a much-needed boost with the return of captain Vishal Bhardwaj into the lineup. He announced his return with a HIGH 5 against the Thalaivas last night.

They will be extremely relieved to have their corner combination back as that combination is what makes the difference for them.
These two are the only defenders in the league who have a tackle SR above 70 (attempted at least 20 tackles).
Abozar will be a little concerned with his form in the last 2 matches.
He averages just 1 tackle point per match at a tackle SR of 33 in the last 2 matches.
This match could be a great opportunity for him to get back to form especially seeing how Pawan Sehrawat has been tackled in the last 3 matches.

Their defense will have to be at their absolute best to stop the Bengaluru Bulls raiding contingent, which has been brilliant throughout the season.

PKL 2018, Day 44, Match 2: Bengaluru Bulls vs Telugu Titans

ONE OF THE BEST RAIDING UNITS v BEST DEFENSE IN THE LEAGUE

The Bengaluru Bulls raiding unit has been on song throughout the season and have been the most important reason for their performance so far.
Most Raid Pts./Game - PKL 2018
Team Name Avg. Raid Pts. Raid SR
Patna Pirates 23.0 54
Bengaluru Bulls 22.7 55
U Mumba 20.2 48

As we can see, they average the second highest raid points per game and have the highest raid SR amongst all the teams in PKL 6 so far.
They have taken that form into their home leg and have been the main reason why Bengaluru Bulls have won 2 of the 4 matches.
Bengaluru Bulls Raiders – Home Leg
Raider Pawan Sehrawat Rohit Kumar
Mts. 4 4
Raid Pts. 31 39
Super 10s 2 2
Avg. Raid Pts. 7.8 9.8
Raid SR 60 59

Both of them have taken turns and performed brilliantly in the home leg.
In all the matches played, one of them has got a Super 10.
However, they will not have it easy as they are taking on a Telugu Titans side which has arguably been the best defensive side in PKL 2018.
