Stock Market Highlights Today, Thursday, June 19, 2025: The benchmark Indian equity indices settled on a lower note on Thursday as investors remained cautious amidst intensified attacks between Iran and Israel, volatility in crude oil prices, and the looming deadline to impose US President Donald Trump's reciprocal tariffs. Moreover, investors also digested the US Federal Reserve's decision to keep interest rates unchanged at 4.25 per cent to 4.5 per cent.
The BSE Sensex shed 82.79 points or 0.10 per cent to settle at 81,361.87. The index traded in the range of 81,583.94–81,191.04 on Thursday. Similarly, the NSE Nifty50 settled at 24,793.25, lower by 18.80 points or 0.08 per cent.
The day ended favour of the bears as 22 out of 30 constituent stocks of the Sensex settled lower, dragged down by Adani Ports, Bajaj Finance, Tech Mahindra, IndusInd Bank, and Nestle India, which declined in the range of 2.50 per cent–1.28 per cent. Mahindra & Mahindra, Titan Company, Larsen & Toubro, Bharti Airtel, and Maruti Suzuki India were the top gainers, ending higher in the range of 1.69–0.45 per cent.
Among the broader markets, the Nifty Midcap100 and Nifty Smallcap100 indices settled lower by 1.63 and 1.99 per cent, respectively. Among sectoral indices, the Nifty Auto index defied overall market trends and emerged as the only sectoral index to close in positive territory. Stock Market LIVE Updates: Expert view
Stock Market LIVE Updates: Markets traded lacklustre on the weekly expiry day and ended almost flat amid mixed cues. The US Fed's decision to maintain the status quo, which was largely anticipated, failed to elicit any significant reaction. Following a flat start, the Nifty moved in a narrow range and finally settled at 24,793.25. Most sectors ended in the red, with realty, metal, and energy being the top losers. The broader indices underperformed, declining in the range of 1.6 per cent to 1.9 per cent.
The strength in the benchmark index does not reflect the underlying market tone, as we are witnessing gradual profit booking across sectors and in the broader market. With geopolitical tensions driving crude prices higher, further deterioration is likely if crude makes a sustained move above the $80 mark. We reiterate our cautious view and advise closely monitoring positions until we see further clarity.

Stock Market LIVE Updates: Market expert view
Stock Market LIVE Updates: The Indian equity index experienced rangebound movement with a negative bias as cautious sentiment spread across the globe, driven by concerns over potential US involvement in the Middle East conflict. Investor mood was further affected by the Fed's decision to keep interest rates unchanged while signalling persistent inflation and slower economic growth, which weighed on software export stocks. Broader market performance lagged the benchmark index, influenced by selling in mid- & small-caps, while better stability was noticed in large-cap growth stocks, keeping a close watch on crude oil prices and global developments.
