Pahalgam (Jammu and Kashmi), Jan 02 (ANI): A thick blanket of snow paralysed life in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam on Tuesday with residents largely choosing to stay indoors. Those who did step out lit fires to battle the sub-zero temperatures. Kashmir is currently grappling with 'Chillai Kalan', a 40-day-long period of harshest winter. Life in the valley remains disrupted during this period as heavy snow blocks roads and highways, water bodies, including the famous Dal Lake freeze and so does the water inside taps. Pahalgam recorded a minimum temperature of minus 6.6 degrees Celsius on Monday night.
